DREAMERS, LATINO AND IMMIGRANT RIGHTS LEADERS RALLY AGAINST SENATOR TED CRUZ AT DALLAS EVENT OVER HIS EXTREME POSITION ON IMMIGRATION REFORM

DALLAS, TX – A coalition of North Texas Immigrant Advocacy organizations will rally outside of the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, TX where Texas Senator Ted Cruz will be present. This coalition represents organizations such as RITA, the North Texas Dream Team, Texas Organizing Project, Voces Unidas Por los Inmigrantes, Pueblos sin Fronteras, SEIU, Workers Defense Project, and Arlington Proyecto Unido.

The rally intends to remind Senator Ted Cruz that the Texas and the country are demanding humane immigration reform for undocumented immigrants that call the U.S. their home, including a path to citizenship. In the presidential race, 70% of Texas Latinos voted for President Obama, while 29% voted for Mitt Romney. In the U.S. Senate race, 65% of Texas Latinos voted for Paul Sadler, while 35% voted for Ted Cruz. This demonstrates Texas’ demographics and political alliances undergoing a major shift. Both Texas senators have been reluctant to support the immigration bill that would let millions reach the American Dream; the coalition will continue to pressure Sen. Cruz to do what the Latino electorate voted for in 2012.
