Pass the New York Dream Act!

Pass the New York Dream Act!

We, the undersigned community organizations, coalitions, elected officials, concerned individuals and undocumented youth within the state of New York believe that the United States Congress failed America by not passing the federal DREAM Act in 2010. In the midst of a national assault on immigrant communities, New York must lead now with progressive immigration policies that set the example for the federal government as well as states across the country.Pending New York DREAM legislation will ensure equal access to higher education for all youth, regardless of immigration status. DREAM legislation would provide financial resources from both the public and the private sectors, as well as make available tax-free education accounts for undocumented students to help their families plan for college. We stand united in the belief that undocumented youth represent the greatest source of untapped potential in our state. New York DREAM legislation will open the door for future doctors, lawyers, engineers and teachers to make valuable economic and social contributions to our state.

Now is the time to ensure that New York is a more fair, just and prosperous state.

We call on the New York State Legislature, Governor Cuomo and all New Yorkers to support New York DREAM legislation.
